Should I Take Homeopathy For My Diabetes Instead Of My Regular Pills

As a practicing homeopathic physician, I meet at least one patient every week asking me for a substitute to his current ongoing allopathic treatment for either diabetes or hypertension. They ask, they pray, they beg, or they can even demand a substitute. They come with a strong conviction that they need to stop the current medication, which most of the times has achieved a good control over the systemic ailment like diabetes, is a poison that they need to detoxify themselves from. They want to get off a medication which has kept them under normal conditions for years together, just because they feel it is chemical getting pushed inside their body.
There is no harm in wanting to have a substitute but I do not approve this feeling of hatred or fear towards any particular medical 'system'. Let it be allopathy or my own homeopathy, nothing has reached its perfection and never will, since they both are live systems that need to change, revise and evolve over a period of time.
I often ask my patients why do they want a substitute. I feel it should be sought only when the current medication is not able to control the ailment in right way. There are so many patients to whom the current dosage of the hypoglycemic agents does not give enough control over the blood sugar levels, but if you increase the dosage it gives rise to severe hypoglycemic episodes. There are patients suffering with Parkinson's disease who show increase in the tremors with ongoing medication, but if you increase the dose, they get hallucinations. These are the right candidates to give Homeopathy as an adjunct medication that can first of all control the condition and bring it to normal levels that have not been reached so far. Going further it can reduce the current dosage effectively.
There have been homeopathic physicians who have completely cured a diabetic patient or have achieved a total control over hypertension thereby being able to stop the current or ongoing allopathic anti-hypertensive pills. I myself have one case where I could stop the diabetic medication and achieve a normal blood-sugar level, aptly confirmed with regular HbA1c assessment. But that's a solitary case, I can't assure it in every case and till I can't do it, I will have to promote Homeopathy as an adjunct therapy.
The advantage is, we can always start a homeopathic treatment along with the ongoing allopathic one, without altering its effect. Thus there is almost no scope for undue aggravation due to drug withdrawal. Once the control gets achieved with homeopathy, one can taper off the allopathic medication. This is true with Diabetes, Hypertension, Hypothyroidism and many such systemic illnesses.
Homeopathy, being a natural and holistic medical system, can offer wonderful results in these systemic ailments. One needs to be practical in assessing and prescribing though.
